Astrahan, gaspipes survey
Geosurvey for identifying tracing of gaspipes
Goals & Problems
The project focused on inspecting the area around Well No. 8E, specifically examining the routes of purified gas lines and the trail gas pipeline. The primary objective was to determine the feasibility of identifying the location and type of underground industrial pipelines (Ø406 mm, Ø168 mm, Ø114 mm, and Ø60 mm) buried in sands at depths ranging from 1.5 to 3 meters.
Result
The survey around Well No. 8E revealed that the identification of the location and type of underground industrial pipelines (Ø406 mm, Ø168 mm, Ø114 mm, and Ø60 mm) within the sands at depths of 1.5 to 3 meters is achievable. These pipelines were confidently differentiated against the geological structure of the soil, evident in both processed data cross-sections and real-time georadar screens (using a dual-color representation). The georadar sections displayed distinct hyperbolas ("radio shadows") corresponding to the size of the pipelines, allowing for accurate diameter identification. The depth determination of the pipelines in perpendicular cross-sections based on georadar data was possible with an accuracy of 2-3 cm, demonstrating the practical feasibility of identifying underground industrial pipelines.
Value for client
The project delivers significant value to the client by demonstrating the fundamental feasibility of identifying the location, type, and depth of underground industrial pipelines (Ø406 mm, Ø168 mm, Ø114 mm, and Ø60 mm). This information empowers the client with precise insights, enabling effective planning, maintenance, and management of the infrastructure around Well No. 8E, enhancing overall operational efficiency and safety.
