Ufa, DAM-7
Geosurvey for identifying chemical waste leakage
Goals & Problems
The project aims to probe the ground structure of the reservoir dam and identify locations of leakage of chemical waste at the reservoir site of OAO "Soda" in Sterlitamak, Republic of Bashkortostan. Within the dam structure, zones of moisture-saturated soil have been discovered, indicating erosion processes caused by water flows within the hydraulic structure. These processes have led to the formation of active drainage zones through the dam, resulting in periodic collapses and subsidence.
Result
The project's findings reveal insights into the ground structure of the dam, highlighting zones of water-saturated soil indicative of erosion processes within the hydraulic structure. Active drainage zones through the dam, caused by suffusion, contribute to periodic collapses and subsidence. Traces of fillings and remediation efforts for the consequences of collapses and subsidence are documented in the upper layers of the dam.
Value for client
The project provides significant value for the client by offering a comprehensive understanding of the ground structure and erosion-related challenges within the dam. This knowledge equips the client to implement targeted solutions for mitigating water-induced processes, minimizing the risk of periodic collapses and subsidence. Additionally, the documentation of remediation efforts assists in the strategic management of the reservoir site, ensuring the long-term integrity and safety of the hydraulic structure for OAO "Soda" in Sterlitamak, Republic of Bashkortostan.
